While attending the University of Tennessee, I completed my year long internship, at Claxton and Grand Oaks Elementary Schools, in Kindergarten and fourth grade.

This is my fifth year teaching at Grand Oaks, and I have taught: 4th grade, Kindergarten, and 5th grade.

I am originally from Nashville, but have lived in Maryville for over 10 years.  I am the middle child of a large family- I have a older brother, a younger brother, an older sister, and a younger sister!! I am perfectly in the middle! My husband, who teaches at West High School in Knoxville, and myself have a beautiful baby boy, Tristan, who will soon be one at the end of the year.

I played basketball throughout high school and at Walters State for two years.  I am a huge sports fan ,and love the New York Giants and Yankees!  I ride horses every weekend in the Smoky Mountains with my dad, and love to camp and fish. I am an avid reader and love all types of literature- Jane Austen to Twilight!

I originally wanted to be in the criminal justice field working with juvenile delinquents or in social work; however, one of my professors read a quote to me that changed my entire outlook- "What you do to children, they will do to society" by Karl Menniger.  I knew from that point on, I was meant to work with young students and children and try to impact lives in order to help shape productive and caring citizens for our Nation. This quote continues to be an integral part of my teaching.
