It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to Grand Oaks Elementary School. My name is Jessica Conatser. I am the principal at Grand Oaks. As I reflect on my life as an educator, my fondest memories were created in this very community. I attended Shinliver Elementary School as a child. I have known from a very young age that I would be a teacher when I grew up. I received my education degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and my administration degree at Lincoln Memorial University. After completing my degree, I had the privilege of serving at Claxton Elementary School for ten years. I was a teacher there for eight years and the assistant principal for two.
I bring with me a variety of experiences and a love for science and literacy. I am a firm believer that students need the 3 R’s to achieve academic success: a RIGOROUS curriculum, REAL-world experiences, and RELATIONSHIPS. I want to see our students participating in hands- on problem solving and thinking outside of a text book. I know that Grand Oaks students can accomplish great things with a strong connection between school and home. I look forward to working as a team alongside parents, teachers, and community members to provide our students with the finest education this area has to offer. I believe strongly in maintaining positive and open lines of communication. I hope you will join us in making your child’s education a positive experience.
It is a blessing to be the principal of Grand Oaks and a team member with some of the most talented educators in the business. I extend a wholehearted welcome to each of you, and I look forward to serving both you and your children this school year.
